About me
Michael Butler is a GIS professional whose career spans atmospheric sciences, hazard interpretation, and government land records. He holds a degree in Geography and Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Georgia, along with a post-baccalaureate Certificate in GIS from the University of West Georgia. He began his career at The Weather Channel and gained early exposure to operational meteorology as a student volunteer for the National Weather Service. For the past seven years, he has served as the GIS Land Records Manager for the Paulding County Assessors Office, leading the team that reviews all deeds, updates parcel boundaries, and develops SQL-driven automated workflows. He also has field appraisal experience and is an Appraiser IV with the Georgia Department of Revenue. He serves on the Georgia Association of Assessing Officials Technology Committee and is a member of both the Georgia Geospatial Association and International Association of Assessing Officials.
